In their song, “Atom”, London-based Inca Gold filter their psychedelic drone through an array of colorful tones as vibrant as the new video for said song. “Atom” has a laid back beat, high-pitched near indecipherable vocal tenor, and a hint of nerdy-ness on par with what you might expect to hear from the live band at the Roadhouse in the David Lynch masterpiece Twin Peaks.
Directed by Neil Innes, Jonathan Birch and Jordan Chatwin, the three do a play on a full color spectrum, focus versus blur, and close-ups. Then the three-minute mark hits and the drone kicks into high gear; it’s epic, the wail in guitar and the colorful strobe in the video. But it’s momentary. Inca Gold quickly returns “Atom” to the cool, chill sound for the song’s remainder.
“Atom” is off Inca Gold’s new four-song EP, Inca Gold III. Check out the tune below and head over to the Inca Gold website for the full EP.
