I have an announcement to make: I am changing my name to The Smiths.

The album is called Aşk and it actually dropped back at the tail end of March 2023 on ATO Records here in the US. Today, I want to take a look inside the Indie Exclusive pressing of the band’s new album. Then I’ll dig into the music itself and share why agree with other reviewers online: Altın Gün is quite possibly the world’s best kept secret, at least here in the United States.

I loved compiling that list, and figured it would be great to put one together for the albums turning 10 this year as well. In this post, I’m scouring my collection for albums released 10 years ago, and I’m pulling out the top 10 albums turning 10 in 2023 — or, in other words, the top 10 albums of 2013.

It was great, and I had such a good time visiting the Modern Art Museum, dining on some amazing food at Toro Toro and Hot Box Biscuits, and visiting one of my favorite DFW record stores! That store is called Doc’s Records & Vintage, and I got a good old crate dig in.

This is something I track on Discogs — the total number of spins of every single record in my collection. Granted, that tracking system only goes back to about 2019 or so. Still, it got me thinking: what BANDS get played most?
