Sugarplum Fairies: The Images We Get [Video]

It’s been a few years since we’ve heard anything from Los Angeles circa Vienna band Sugarplum Fairies. The duo of Silvia Ryder and Ben Bohm are back with a new album called The Images We Get, featuring the signature airy vocals of Ryder and light southern-tinged Americana folk pop. As found on the band’s prior releases, this one is dreamy and filled with accompanying stringed orchestration.

“96 Dreams” is the song the band and their label, Starfish Records, have made available for sampling. The song features Johnny Ruby on vocals. There are hints of early Mazzy Star in Ryder’s vocals, while Ruby’s hints of Leonard Cohen. It’s a beautiful track, perfect for a warm and clear starry night.

The band has also put together a video for the title track. This is one of my favorite songs on the album. Though, to be honest, I have no qualms saying that The Images We Get is the band’s strongest release yet.

Check the video and mp3 out below and grab a copy of The Images We Get from Amazon.
