Vinyl Only Night on KSVR

As you may already know, but I’ll state it nonetheless for those who do not, I have a weekly radio show on KSVR Mount Vernon, KSVU Hamilton and KSJU Friday Harbor. You can tune in via the respective dial pinpoints if you live within those townships, or you can stream from KSVR.org. We will be hosting our pledge drive in April, so I thought I’d kick things off by doing something no other station in Skagit or (to my knowledge) the surrounding areas does: a vinyl only night.

Fense’s Radio Show: November 18, 2012

November 18 was the second vinyl only show, featuring an array of tunes from the likes of Sambassadeur, The Mary Onettes, Holiday Shores, Devon Williams, Le Jonathan Reilly, Christmas Island and many more. Included within were several from Sweden’s Labrador Records thanks to a recent package from the label, and I also played several tracks from artists who have released singles and LPs on Captured Tracks after receiving an order placed from eBay. Lots of good tunes this week!

Vivian Girls‘ self-titled LP from 2008 was damn catchy. Listening again to songs like “All The Time” and “Tell The World”, I’m immediately rewarded with the garage-centric punk-pop style I absolutely adore. But Vivian Girls have a new one coming out soon, a new one called Everything Goes Wrong. The album’s title contrasts perfectly with the first single, “When I’m Gone”, as, despite the greatness of Vivian Girls, this is the group’s most accomplished song yet.
