Saint Etienne Good Humor 25th Anniversary Vinyl

Saint Etienne | Good Humor | 25th Anniversary Splatter Vinyl Unboxing & Album Review

Today I’m taking a look at Saint Etienne’s fourth studio album, Good Humor, which was released in 1998. Known for their blend of indie pop, dance, and electronic music, the band had already released three successful albums prior to Good Humor, including Foxbase Alpha (1991), So Tough (1993), and Tiger Bay (1994). However, Good Humor showed a marked change in their sound, moving away from the dancefloor-oriented music of their earlier work and embracing a more sophisticated and subdued sound.

Fense’s Radio Show: It’s An Indie Christmas

Each year I shun Christmas music like it’s the plague. It begins too early, is far too repetitive, and, quite frankly, is a bit boring. That is, until this year. Bags Full of Vinyl

Fense’s Radio Show: November 18, 2012

November 18 was the second vinyl only show, featuring an array of tunes from the likes of Sambassadeur, The Mary Onettes, Holiday Shores, Devon Williams, Le Jonathan Reilly, Christmas Island and many more. Included within were several from Sweden’s Labrador Records thanks to a recent package from the label, and I also played several tracks from artists who have released singles and LPs on Captured Tracks after receiving an order placed from eBay. Lots of good tunes this week!

Brett Sandstrom at KSVR

Fense’s Radio Show: November 2, 2012

Brett and I met up a little before 9:30pm at KSVR, spent a few minutes catching up, then organized the selection of records we would play that night. It was a first for me — having a co-host — and it turned out to be a blast. Friday nights from 10pm to midnight can be lonely and I don’t get many calls, so having someone else in the studio to talk to was definitely an enjoyable experience.

"Teen Creeps" by No Age playing on KSVR

Fense’s Radio Show: October 26, 2012

I don’t know when the last time vinyl was played on KSVR, but by the state of the record players it may have been quite a while. I dropped by the studio mid day on Friday to make sure the turntables worked properly, then came home and put together a split show. The first half, Halloween-ish songs (even if only in name, some only by their haunting sound) followed by half a show of more dance-y, electronic and remix tracks.
