Jane Eyre is the emotionally-charged, psychedelic pop outfit fronted by Jesse Rifkin, former leader of The Wailing Wall. This new project has been brewing for a while now, with “Home Alone 2: Lost In New York” dropped a few years back. The band has finally released their debut full-length, With Our Thoughts We Make The World.
Featuring seven songs clocking in at just over 40 minutes, Jane Eyre’s debut is a blend of heart-felt subtle pop melodies that explode into wild guitar solos and rock-infused feedback. Opening track “Hazel Motes 1” is a perfect example, ending in a haze of ferocity before dropping into the soft instrumental beginnings of “Hazel Motes 2”.
The album flows nicely, up and down, from melody-heavy tracks to ones more focused on progressive swells of intense creativity. For those who were sad to see The Wailing Wall go, Jane Eyre is a more than suitable replacement. Like its predecessor, Jane Eyre breaks the standard within its respective genres, fulfilling a unique place in psychedelic pop.
