Posed to release his debut LP The Ballad of Willy Robbins next week on Mama Bird Recording Co., Portland artist Vikesh Kapoor channels the aching, melodic traditional-leaning folk of modern artists such as The Tallest Man on Earth, Bonnie “Prince” Billy and Bon Iver.
Solo acts such as these tend to have a penchant for injecting a hefty dose of emotion, and Kapoor is no exception. Album midpoint “Carry Me, Home” has a darker sound than many songs on Willy Robbins, but it maintains a fairly consistent level of emotiveness you’ll find throughout the album.
