In a bit of a strange trend, two noted models turned actresses have now gone musician. Carla Bruni and Lou Doillon have both prepared debut LPs. Doillon’s debut LP, Places, will be released via Verve on June 18. Bruni’s latest, Little French Songs, is her fourth release.
Doillon is the daughter of the iconic duo Jane Birkin and Jacques Doillon, and her connections extend further: step-father Serge Gainsbourg and sister Charlotte Gainsbourg. Not surprising, then, that her new track “ICU”, which recently debuted, is as stunning as the famous names that surround her.
“ICU” is the opening track off Places and it’s packed with heart and emotion. The lyrics center around lost love: I see you / In every cab that goes by / In the strangers at every crossroad…”
A soft folk-pop tune, it is obvious that here Doillon finds her true voice in music. Instrumentally, the focus centers around a piano a soft guitar strum. Places is out June 18 on Verve. Listen to “ICU” above and watch Doillon perform her song “Devil or Angel” below:
