Anna-Lynne Williams returns as Lotte Kestner with “Wrestler”, taking a slight break from her Ormonde project with Robert Gomez (though he appears throughout her new album on additional instruments). “Wrestler is a highly emotional song, one about love and loss, hopelessness and loneliness, depression and anxiety.
Fronted by Anna-Lynne’s quiet vocals and backed by a soft acoustic guitar, the song finds similarities to Ormonde’s Machine. And the video accompanying “Wrestler” finds her draped in loneliness travelling around Washington’s Puget Sound region, riding the ferry and breathing anxiously into a paper bag.
The video premiered on Impose TV who wrote about the song:
Anna-Lynne projects heart strung connections and metaphoric meanings to the elemental setting. “My heart is the color it makes when buildings reflect on the water, my heart is a building, and you are the ceiling”. The deep felt sentiments proves inescapable, as every corner, every sidewalk and every stranger conjures up the old structural feelings, followed by a projected familiar image of that significant other standing across a two-way street.
Premiere: Lotte Kestner “Wrestler” [ImposeTV]
Directed by Edgardo Flores, “Wrestler” is somewhat the perfect song for a dreary Pacific Northwest day in late February. A day much like today.
“Wrestler” will be released on Lotte Kestner’s The Bluebird of Happiness, out February 26 on Saint Marie Records.
Beautiful song and video….”my heart is a building and you are the ceiling” —great lyrics as well (not just that line but throughout). Thank you for this post!
