King Charles [Feature]

It’s so refreshing to hear songs that sound like nothing we’ve ever heard before. Songs that melt together so many different elements in rhythm and progression we don’t even know how to classify them, the closest description being something akin to classic English psychedelic folk pop.

The native London musician King Charles has a knack for creating such songs. His tunes are so oddly intoxicating it’s a wonder we haven’t heard more about him already. Whether he’s fusing strings with frazzled electric guitar riffs, driving together piano chords with attitude-ridden drum segments, or singing alongside a simple acoustic melody, his music is never complacent and always surprising.

He wields his lyrics like twisting and sweetly turning poems and we understand there is no part of his art that he does not take seriously. Even then we can hear how much feverish fun he’s having and how badly he wants us to have fun with him. Soon to be playing with Mumford and Sons on their upcoming U.S. tour, King Charles is an artist from whom we can excitedly anticipate continuously charming songs and eccentricities.
