It’s summer here in Skagit, and that means the Farmer’s Market is back, it’s time for summer house projects, the Seattle to Portland bike ride is coming up, and the days are, quite frankly, way too long. I picked up a new toy a few hours before my show. My bike had been in the shop for a few days with a broken spoke and to get a new chain and cassette (the latter of which was a special order item), and I decided to try out a 2012 model Trek. Ended up using my old bike as a trade in and coming home with the new ride pictured above. With this kind of reckless spending, I needed a garage/psychedelic rock kind of night.

Until now, my experience with Psychic Ills (quite embarrassingly) is limited to a split 7-inch with Moon Duo on the flip. On the single is the chilled swagger of “Take Me With You”. This cool, laid back psych-pop has a tinge of the country peeking through the haze that makes me think of driving through southern Utah in the early hours of the morning.
