Creation Records was founded in 1983 by Alan McGee, Dick Green, and Joe Foster. Previously known as Creation Artifacts, the label would go on to be hugely influential in the late 1980s and early 1990s, releasing a slew of albums that would come to dominate and define the shoegaze sub-genre.

I can’t think of shoegaze as a sub-genre without thinking of three instrumental bands in its original late 80s early 90s heyday: My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive, and this band: Ride. All three made a resurgence in the 2010s, releasing new music and reissuing old. The latest to resurface is this, Ride’s simply titled 4 EPs.

The Pains of Being Pure at Heart gave us their debut, self-titled LP in 2009. The band created this interesting blend of indie pop with hints of shoegaze and even emo. The songs featured on the Pains of Being Pure at Heart were romance and relationship based with a youthful edge. Their music was packed with catchy vocal hooks, fuzzed-out melodic guitar riffs, and an overall dreaminess to it.
