The Mary Onettes: Portico

The Mary Onettes

The Mary Onettes

The Mary Onettes returned last week with their new album, Portico, now out on Swedish label Labrador Records. The band maintains their somewhat dark, 80s style of pop, like a softer, smoother New Order. It’s most obvious in the short LPs second single “Native Dream”.

States front-man Philip Ekström about the inspiration behind many of the songs on Portico:

…this year has also been a lot about photographs. Endless pages in photo books has been a major influence for us. The pictures have served as portals into colors and emotions. I even sleep with the books in my bed.

Check out “Silence Is A Gun” and “Native Dream” below, then look for Portico now from your local record store and/or Labrador Records.
