Morgan Delt’s Self-Titled LP out now on Trouble In Mind

Morgan Delt

Morgan Delt

Morgan Delt fits the Trouble In Mind mold. That’s to say his thick psychedelic-pop is drenched in layers of complexity of label-mates like Jacco Gardner, MMOSS and Maston. His new self-titled LP on the label dropped yesterday.

The colorful, flowery psych Delt creates is mesmerizing. States Trouble In Mind about the new LP:

It’s all in there; obsessively studied, mastered and then mutated. Side one opens with the one/two punch of ‘Make My Grey Brain Green’ and ‘Barbarian Kings’ blasting apart 40 years of pop-psych and stitching it back together in a way that is both familiar but also refreshingly new.

There’s a lot going on here, from early influences like The Byrds and Love to more modern references like Ducktails and Tame Impala. In becoming more selective about what goes up on FensePost, I feel comfortable sharing just how impressed I am with Morgan Delt’s new LP. So much so that I ordered a copy on vinyl for myself.

It’s diverse, with melody-driven tracks, ones that focus on catchy lyrics, and others that emphasize true psych-insanity; and through it all, Delt masters the more experimental side of the sub-genre.
