Mount Eerie: Ancient Questions (Live in Bloomington)

Mount Eerie

Phil Elverum is undoubtely my favorite local artist. Hailing from the town of Anacortes about 20 miles to the west of my Mount Vernon hometown (yes, the one affected by last week’s bridge collapse), Elverum is most recognized by two musical monikers: Mount Eerie and The Microphones.

On the cusp of a reissue from the latter, the former and more recent project is about to release a live record on XRA Records simply titled Live in Bloomington, September 30, 2011. (The Microphones reissued It Was Hot, We Stayed in the Water via Elverum’s own P.W. Elverum & Sun imprint earlier this week, originally a K release.)

The track list includes many of the highlights off the band’s 2009 LP Wind’s Poem, including the Twin Peaks-esque “Between Two Mysteries” and “Ancient Questions” as well as the same off the band’s two LPs released in 2012 such as “House Shape”, “The Place Lives” and “The Place I Live”.

Grab the Live in Bloomington LP from XRA Records and look for It Was Hot, We Stayed in the Water now. Check out “Ancient Questions” from the Live in Bloomington album above.
