Christopher Bell: Feature

Christopher Bell

Nestled in the heart of downtown Staunton, Virginia the Darjeeling Café provides much needed opportunities to experience both the local and traveling performance circuits. Last weekend I was lucky enough to catch just such an event and see Christopher Bell of Silent Home Records play.

Christopher Bell at Darjeeling CafeDescribed as “cello-rock” Chris creates a sound that is oddly both fractured and smooth. An early 90’s alt rock vocal quality paired with cleanly invigorating cello work makes for a surprising and welcome break from the melodic orchestral folk (of which, don’t get me wrong, I am a huge fan) genre.

Check out his bandcamp for his most recent self-titled album, featuring my two personal favorites “Hoping for a Rescue” and “Young at Heart”, as well as earlier releases.
