I can’t help but be reminded of Seattle band Unnatural Helpers when listening to the new Police Teeth track “Bellingham Media Blackout”. It has a comparative blend of punk and heavy power pop, filled with rough rock guitars and pop-punk vocals. The band has come a long way from Real Size Monster Series (2009), which saw co-vocalist/bassist Chris Rasmussen in his first new post-Racetrack band.
“Bellingham Media Blackout” is the title track of the band’s new LP, slated for a mid October release on Latest Flame Records.
Despite Police Teeth’s powerful, entirely catchy sound, the band has yet to gain the widespread attention experienced by it’s local Pacific Northwest contemporaries like Unnatural Helpers, along with like artists The Intelligence and The Thermals. The good news is that “Bellingham Media Blackout” is just the track to propel Police Teeth into a more national spotlight. Let’s hope that happens.
