Coulter: At The End Of The Day [mp3]

coulter

Coulter‘s last LP had a few similarities to The Smiths, and those traits can also be found on his new one, Grip Fast. However, the similarities aren’t as plentiful, and Coulter Leslie is starting to create his own sound. Again, he worked with Seattle producer and mixer Erik Blood (whose work includes the same for The Moondoggies, The Lights, and The Tea Cozies to name a few).

You can hear all of this in “At The End Of The Day”, the first track off Grip Fast, with an opening riff that hints of Morrissey but vocals that distance themselves quite nicely. The song has a little more Seattle in it than Coulter’s last one, a little more grit and a little more emphasis on creating a full band. It has a solid beat with plenty of guitar hooks, and an excellent vocal melody.

Grip Fast is packed with nine more songs just as good as this one, and you can pick it up now over on Discogs.
