All Leather: I Don’t Hate… [Video Review]

All Leather

Don’t get offended; I know you want to. Honestly, I had my own reservations even posting this. It’s not necessarily due to the content of the video, rather the name of the song. It’s offensive. But you just have to get past it, past its un-politically-correctness. Because, when it comes down to it, “I Don’t Hate…” by All Leather is about (in my opinion) the stereotypical hate select religious fundamentalists put on people different from their devout.

It is a song about stereotypes and the video follows suit. It is immensely creative and fits well with All Leather’s self-defined post punk electro thrash. And it has a fair share of demented insanity to boot. The characters that appear within further demonstrate the circus some of us have made out of western religion — it’s become less about religion and more about the symbolism of Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, ghosts, and, of course, various stereotypes.

Then again, it could just be a song about how our society has just become so damn sensitive about everything. Who are we to judge anyone about anything? And who are they to judge us as well?

“I Don’t Hate…” is off All Leather’s Hung Like A Horse, out now on Dim Mak Records.
