Cotton Jones [Show Preview]

In all honesty, I kind of miss Page France. But Michael Nau’s latest project, Cotton Jones is a more than viable replacement. Filled with a baroque-ish style pop, and dipped in a light coat of psychedelia, Cotton Jones boasts harmony male/female vocals quite unlike Nau’s earlier concoction.

At times Page France seemed a bit much — a little too upbeat, too full of life. Cotton Jones takes it back one step and a few decades. Overall, it’s a much-needed overhaul both welcome and rewarding. We won’t likely forget Page France anytime soon, but I’ll bet Cotton Jones will reap rewards Page France never achieved.

You can see Cotton Jones on tour soon. It kicks off in mid-late May and wraps up in June. For my local Pacific Northwest readers out there, I’ve highlighted those dates below including Seattle, Portland and Eugene.

5/29: The Triple Door in Seattle, WA
5/30: Doug Fir in Portland, OR
5/31: Sam Bond’s Garage in Eugene, OR

Paranoid Cocoon, the latest by Cotton Jones, hit via Suicide Squeeze recently. “Blood Red Sentimental Blues,” “I am the Changer” and “Gotta Cheer Up” are album favorites. You can hear them in this full LP embed below:

You can find the album digitally on Amazon.
