Is it true? Is Americana really becoming a legitimate experimentation of artistic credibility in a world hell bent on obscurity? And can grassroots be downright cool? Some would say it always has been. Some would say there’s no chance in hell. But, Cory Chisel surely have to disagree. He and his Wandering Sons have produced one of the most fun loving and inspiring tracks in recent times: “Born Again”. It is a foot stomping and inspiring track with the same vibrancy of a Blitzen Trapper or Bravo Johnson, but has a more uplifting approach to the respected genre. Good on Cory and the boys for teaching us what it means to live again.

What can express being “Born Again” better than a grungy bathtub baptism outside what appears to be a simple world filled with dirty motel rooms? That pretty much seems to be the main focal point of the video to this somewhat spiritual track. The neon Used Car Dealership-like sign advertising baptisms is like a subtle smirk at how serious it is to be born again. Chisel’s religious upbringing breaks through in a very personal light throughout this track as well as on the video. Our man and his wandering son have sure found a great way to promote their upcoming album Death Won’t Send A Letter by using this track as a jumping off point. But, sneak peeks into other tracks like “Calm Down” prove that they are no one hit wonder. This is legitimate Americana rock of our day. This is just beautiful rock n roll music.

Cory Chisel & The Wandering Sons debut full length album Death Won’t Send A Letter will be available September 29th 2009 on Black Seal Records. “Born Again and “Calm Down” are both available now on iTunes.
