Experimental pop and electro-pop meet in Beat Radio‘s Safe Inside The Sound. Opening track “Follow You Around” surfaces somewhere around eerie folk artist Okay, but with fuller instrumentation, less heartache, and a bit more experimentation. It’s a valid beginning, leading straight into the album’s highlight, “Sleepwalking”. Heavy with guitar-meets-synth instrumentation, the album continues is a much more pop-oriented fashion. There’s nothing masked or hidden here, it’s all upstanding, on-the-sleeve pop greatness.

Safe Inside The Sound is eleven songs of unadulterated electro-pop. Songs like “Sunday Matinee” and “Closing Scene” are not simple, but they’re not overly complex; they’re not diluted with flare and attempts to break the pop mold. That’s what you get with this album. Even the more experimental side of Beat Radio has a clean purity to it. When Safe Inside The Sound pushes boundaries, Beat Radio doesn’t overdo it. They keep it safe to an extent, instead adorning the listener with lovable synth lines and guitar chord progressions and allowing their sincere vocals to shine.
