Dream Police to release “Hypnotized” Nov. 11 on Sacred Bones

Dream Police

Dream Police

I have made it no secret that The Men‘s 2013 LP, New Moon, was among my favorite releases of the year. It marked a new pinnacle for the band, in my opinion; an arena slightly more accessible to the common listener and a bit more in line with my own personal tastes. Unfortunately, this year’s Tomorrow’s Hits hasn’t quite gripped me as much as its predecessor. Enter Dream Police and their forthcoming album Hypnotized.

Dream Police is a project containing members of The Men — Mark Perro and Nick Chiericozzi — and it has a similarly forward-leaning style of rock. Where The Men have begun flirting with a twangy, pseudo-country-influenced style of rock, Dream Police takes a hint from the early releases by The Men. It’s all about creating a sound heavy in fuzz and borderline psychedelic — a sound more in line with Sacred Bones label mates Moon Duo.

I for one love the drenched-out, overpowering fuzz sound — I cannot get enough of it, which is why I’m such a big fan of bands like Wooden Shjips and JJUUJJUU — so I have no doubt that Dream Police’s new LP will be great. Get a hint of it below with the title track from the LP, out November 11 on Sacred Bones.
