Gap Dream: Shine Your Light (Video)

gap-dream-cultistzine

This month, Gap Dream will release their sophomore LP, Shine Your Light. In preparation for the release, the band has given us a new video for the opening and title track “Shine Your Light”. It features John Ennis (Mr. Show) trying to find is friend/partner who may have been abducted by aliens. The X-Files-like sci-fi sees Ennis driven to alcoholism (or are those mini Listerine bottles?) in his search; what he ultimately discovers blows his mind.

The video was filmed by Jonny Look. Delve into some of his other work, and you’ll find equally creative, equally offbeat music videos for artists like Dead Ghosts and Radio People.

After last year’s self-titled release, Gap Dream’s Gabriel Fulvimar moved from Ohio to California to join the Burger Records team while working on his follow up. That release, Shine Your Light sandwiches a few singles (a 7″ flexi for “Peter’s Brother” and another single for “Chill Spot”). All can be found courtesy Burger Records.

The new album loses some of the grit and garage from Gap Dream’s debut, ending up with a bit more pop and a few minor audible correlations to Seattle artist Aqueduct (you’ll hear it in “Shine Your Love”). But Fulvimar feeds off his somewhat greasy, psychedelic pop roots throughout Shine Your Light. Check out the video for “Shine Your Light” and stream “Shine Your Love” below.
