Ty Segall Plays the Northwest

Ty Segall

I’m jealous. I never get out to shows these days. And Ty Segall is hitting the Pacific Northwest next week in support of his 2012 LP, Twins. I’ve been listening to it consistently over the past three days or so and, frankly, it’s a stunning snapshot of various genres, from garage to punk to psychedelic. It’s soft and gritty at all the right moments, and intensely loud when appropriate. Perfection.

Off Twins, immediate favorites include “Handglams”, “Thank God For Sinners” and “They Told Me Too”. They feature mind-swelling guitar solos, psychedelic vocal meanderings, and great acoustic melodies. Segall knows how to create not just a great song, but a phenomenal album.

Twins is Segall’s third LP and was released on Drag City a few months back.

By know, I’m sure you’re just dying for me to get to those dates. If you’re in the Northwest, here you go…

12-11 Seattle, WA: Neumos
12-12 Vancouver, British Columbia: Waldorf
12-13 Portland, OR: Star Theater

Check out “The Hill” from Twins below and make me even more jealous by attending one of those shows up there.
