When you’re stuck in the studio of a deserted campus in a small town late on a cold, rainy Friday night, a song with a title like “Fairytales & Other Forms of Suicide” is sometimes the best medicine. Everyone is out, or cozy at home and there’s loneliness in the air. Music is playing, but the emptiness is quite surrounding.
The Old Ceremony is the band behind “Fairytales” and they just released the song as the title track of their new LP, out now on Yep Roc Reccords. Hailing from Durham, NC, Fairytales & Other Forms of Suicide is the band’s fifth proper album.
As true with much on Yep Roc, The Old Ceremony has folk leanings, but is expands that sound into rock, pop, and other genres. Check out the tune below!
