Pan: John From New York (MP3)

Pan (Band)

Give “John From New York” by Pan a listen. It’ll only take one. I’d suspect you’ll probably have the same reaction I did: it gave me butterflies. I was instantly in love, and I knew it would dominate my playlist for the remainder of the year.

Now, the latter part of that statement is yet to be determined, but just listen to the track! It is so upbeat! It is so fun and catchy! It has a melody — a good one — that easily gets stuck in your head.

I probably won’t be able to sleep tonight because I’ll be singing it. And I’ll be happy about it.

Pan took their name from the notion of being so happy you could fly. Yes, Peter Pan’s happy thoughts will make you fly. This group is one of dreamers, of lovers, and of those who want to laugh, play and have fun all day.

“John From New York” has a bit more pop in the song than a lot of what you’ll find on their new LP, which is packed with happy post-rock. Pan’s new LP, These Are The Things I Love, And I Want To Share Them With You, is likely to go down not only as one of the longest album titles of the year, but also one of the best. Find it on Post-Echo August 28.
