Easter Island: Hash

easter island

I quite enjoyed Easter Island‘s previous release, Better Things, but it didn’t stun me. What I mean by that is that while it was by all means very good, it wasn’t as gripping as one would hope. Well the band is back with Frightened, a new LP, and it doesn’t suffer the same fate. Both are solid works, but Frightened has staying power. And it’s tracks like “Hash” that give it that.

“Hash” is upbeat, interesting and filled with intriguing depth. The song is somewhere between Denmark’s Mew and, say, something more like Stars. Though the distance between those two artists genre-wise is trench-like, Easter Island makes it work well; and given that distance they do so in a way that’s all their own. The proof is in “Hash.”

Check out the song below and grab Frightened when it hits this Tuesday (July 3). This one will stick with you a while.
