If you’re a long-time fan of Tilly and the Wall, “Love Riot” may come as a bit of a shock. It’s loud, raucous almost. It’s rock. It’s heavy. What made Tilly so unique in the past — the handclap/foot-stomp combo — remains a staid feature here, but pairing it with indie pop sensibilities is seemingly a thing of the past.
And if you’re like me — a long time fan — that’s a hard change to get used to. But the song is catchy; what else would you expect from Tilly and the Wall!? I’ll say this: give it a little time, give it listens. It won’t take long; you’ll grow to love it. I sure did.
