The Migrant: The Hurricane MP3

The Migrant

A sad admission: Travels in Lowland, the last album by The Migrant, should have easily been among my top albums of 2010. Thankfully, Denmark’s Bjarke Bendtsen is back with Amerika, set for an October 25 release. “The Hurricane” is the first track to be released from the album. In it The Migrant creates orchestrated folk-pop perfection.

Having heard Amerika in its entirety, I have no problem noting that “The Hurricane” is merely one of nine truly astonishing tracks. Like many of those it accompanies, it features a soft beginning that picks up substantially in volume and added instrumentation (courtesy Bendtsen’s Austin-based backing band) as the song continues.

This is what Bendtsen does best — pull together great musicians for an immensely full, beautiful folk-pop sound. You can hear it in “The Hurricane” just as you can throughout every song on Amerika and every song on Travels in Lowland. Check out “The Hurricane” below and look for Amerika come October.
