Joseph Zucco creates some pretty eclectic lo-fi experimental music. As off-the-wall as it may seem at times, he occasionally throws in a cohesive song much more accessible when compared to his norm. Track two off his Isolation Tape Night LP under the moniker Teenage Reverb is one such gem. The song is called “Weekends” and it is quite a surprise.
Throughout Isolation Tape Night, Zucco and his project Teenage Reverb dive into what may best be described as a 3am musical experiment. “Weekends”, however, is all lo-fi garage pop with somewhat raucous percussion and a wonderfully sloppily strummed jangle guitar. He ads vocals where he would usually not, and the result is quite astonishing.
“Weekends” is a definite hidden gem. Grab it below and head over to the Teenage Reverb bandcamp page to check out the more experimental side of Zucco’s project.
