Hunx And His Punks: Lovers Lane [mp3]

Hunx And His Punx clashes the 50s style girl group doo-wop pop with punk rock in the first song off their recent LP, Too Young To Be In Love. “Lovers Lane” is definitely influenced by classic teenage tragedy songs like Jan And Dean’s “Dead Man’s Curve” and Wayne Cochran’s “Last Kiss” and even The Shangri-Las “Leader Of The Pack”.

Hunx and his accompanying ladies gives it a modern punk twist with slightly more blatant sexual innuendo, raw guitar riffs, and tight leather pants. We’ve heard a few sounds like this of late, including Bass Drum Of Death from earlier this year, but I think Hunx And His Punx top them all with their unique take on the genre.

Too Young To Be In Love is out now on Hardly Art.
