John Prine

Everybody loves a legend. And John Prine is nothing if he is not one of the finest songwriters in American folk history. He has been creating wonderful and thought felt Americana style music for 40 years. And he is not stopping any time soon. His latest efforts, In Person & On Stage, has been said to be Prine at his finest. And with appearances from some of the finest folk/country artists of the current age to join him (Emmylou Harris, Iris Dement, & more) this wonderfully compiled live album is sure to be a must have for the ultimate strum and jive fans out there. You will go absolutely hillbilly ape shit when you hear “Long Monday” in such a peculiarly personal arrangement.

Prine recently appeared on Late Night With David Letterman with My Morning Jacket’s Yim Yames in support of another project that is sure to be outstanding to say the least. Broken Hearts & Dirty Windows: Songs of John Prine is a tribute album featuring some of today’s finest artists and pays tribute to man who could arguably be considered the underground king of Americana. Artists such as My Morning Jacket, Conor Oberst, The Avett Brothers, Drive By Truckers, just to name a few, lend their talents to what will surely be a fine collection of new age renditions of one of folk music’s greatest legacies.

To download a free track from In Person & On Stage, head over to the website for Prine’s Oh Boy Records, and be sure to check out the full album available now, as well as Broken hearts & Dirty Windows when it hits the streets as well.

1 thought on “John Prine [Feature]”

  1. fertile writing …don’t know, been doing a lotta research and don’t come across much stuff that should be written long enough about one who knows the subject best and puts it as it is for listeners to enjoy.
John Prine is indeed worthy of much more than what is written about.
if anyone comes across more interesting stuff please let know.
