Salmon Thrasher: Bad Blood [mp3]

Salmon Thrasher

On my radar this year is one of Seattle’s newest and most prolific artists, Justin Ripley. I have, honestly, loved pretty much everything he has passed my way — and all of it (to my limited, often diverted knowledge) has been in the year of 2010. A full length as well as a small handful of other releases under his own name, and an impressive debut LP with friends Tara Sloan and Evan Lesure under the guise Salmon Thrasher. It’s only been a few months since the release of their debut album What Gives, yet they’re giving us a taste of what’s to come with “Bad Blood” off their summer EP Thrashin’ In The USA.

“Bad Blood” is as raw and as gritty. It’s filled with a rockin’ guitar riff and intense percussion, and fronted by Ripley’s wailin’ garage rock yell. “Bad Blood” may very well be the band’s best track yet, and a fair share off What Gives were nothing to scoff at. “In A Balloon” and “Fleece” were stunning, as were “Woodside” and “Battle Summer Time”. I’ve included “Bad Blood” below — don’t forget to check out Thrashin’ In The USA, out soon!
