Papercuts Go Sub Pop!

papercuts

Sub Pop announced yesterday that they have a new artist on their roster, one cherished throughout the independent music community. Yes, they have signed Papercuts for the band’s next album, slated for a tentative 2011 release. As a pretty big fan of both Papercuts and Sub Pop, you bet I’m pretty stoked! The band comes off a very successful 2009, in which they released the astounding You Can Have What You Want to critical acclaim.

If you have yet to check out Papercuts, I’ve included a few tracks below — “Future Primitive” can be found on You Can Have What You Want and “John Brown” is off Can’t Go Back. Papercuts’ music is defined by mystical orchestration somewhere between psychedelic folk and indie pop, while Jason Quever’s sleepy vocals match the instrumentation for a sound signature to the band.

Both previous albums were released via Gnomonsong Records. You Can Have What You Want made my best of 2009 list, just entering the top 15. Also, for excellent tunes, check out Papercuts session over at Daytrotter.
