Blitzen Trapper Announces Tour and New Release

Blitzen Trapper

Eric Earley and his band of merry men known as Blitzen Trapper are set to release their fifth studio album, Destroyer Of The Void, on June 8th via Sub Pop Records. It’s been two years since their debut at Sub Pop with their critically acclaimed Furr, and of course during we were fortunate enough to receive Black River Killer EP as well. But now the time has come! There is no doubt in the western world that this is one of the most highly anticipated albums of 2010. The pressure is on. But, as they have failed to let us down in the past, the stage is set for yet another amazing release.

Question: When you have such a profound album on the way, what are you expected to do? That’s right! Hit the circuits. After a gig at McMenamins Kennedy School in their hometown of Portland, Oregon, the gang heads to Europe for pre-release touring before returning to the states to roam the land with Destroyer Of The Void on their backs. Starting in the great city of Spokane, meandering their way to New York City, and wrapping around to make their way back and finish it off in California, Blitzen Trapper will highlight their trip with stops at Bonnaroo, High Sierra Music Festival, and Osheaga Festival. Yes, all throughout our country and few others, today’s greatest experimental folk group is out to set your world a blaze.

For those of you who find it unacceptable to wait until June 8th to get some Trapper back in your life, a free mp3 from Destroyer Of The Void, “Heaven And Earth”, has been released for public consumption. That, along with a complete track list, you can find on their website.

Eric Earley is without a doubt one of the greatest songwriters to emerge in the last ten years. He is the son that Bob Dylan wished he would have had. And Blitzen Trapper is the band that Jakob Dylan was suppose to start. Instead of staring into one busted up headlight, this Northwest-based sextet is continuing to make big moves and wow audiences all across the globe with their triumphant spirit and incredible knack for just being so downright pleasant on the ears.

  1. Loving this song Ron! Plus I totally dig how that red-headed guy looks somewhat like me now that he’s got that rad ‘stache.

It’s good to see them play Spokane, but odd that they’re not hitting Seattle…

  2. I just noticed that as well. It almost looks like you cropped yourself right in there.

Yeah it’s wierd that they head back from Europe and head right to Spokane to kick off a tour.
