Typically, the best music videos have a storyline. It’s not necessarily a plot, insofar as it lacks the standard plot narrative. Not always. “Can We Stay”, however, has a plot. There’s an introduction, action is taken to resolve a problem. A solution (the climax, if you will) is reached, and things wrap up in the end. The story follows a couple, The Woodlands, as they discover a 1950s van, clean the inside, and make it into a cute little place. It’s a simple narrative, but it works with the light indie-pop The Woodlands create.

This Portland, OR band gives the impression of being from somewhere else. Their sound isn’t one I’d necessarily associate with the Pacific Northwest region. Instead, it sounds European. This band could just as easily be a folk-pop duo from Stockholm or Liverpool, or even Berlin. It’s a trait that makes their music unique, and it makes it really, really good.

Pick up a copy of this husband-and-wife duo’s self-titled album over at CD Baby or on iTunes.
