Sera Cahoone: Baker Lake [Video]

Sera Cahoone

It’s no secret that one of my all-time favorite groups is Carissa’s Wierd [sic]. That group has birthed some of the greatest names in music today, from Band Of Horses to Grand Archives. And, of course, Sera Cahoone. Cahoone’s music lands somewhere between folk and country with heavy inclusion of steel slide (played by Jason Kardong of The Wakefields) and banjo.

Last year she released her sophomore album Only As The Day Is Long on Sub Pop. Now she gives us a video for the romanic-tinged “Baker Lake”.

Soft and slow, the video follows suit with slow camera movements and minimally lighted shots of the band in an old house at night. One gets the impression it was filmed in a cabin near Baker Lake, WA. There’s something beautiful about this video and its beauty stems not only from the simple lighting at night but also the clever cinematography. You’ll be hooked from the opening shot.
