I Was A King

Playing power pop in the vein of Apples in Stereo, or perhaps more so of Teenage Fanclub, I Was A King hits the road later this month in support of their self-titled sophomore release. The Norwegian group will hit the states late this month, kicking the shows off in Chicago and winding across the east coast and circling the states before winding things up here in Seattle.

I Was A King features the two tracks off the Norman Bleik single released earlier this year, as well as thirteen other tracks. “Norman Bleik” and “It’s All You” had quantitative shares of bouncy melodies and notable hooks — enough to fill a full album. Yet I Was A King continues this tradition throughout the self-titled release, from the distorted, eclectic intro in opener “Still” to the laid-back pop melodies in closer “Fading Summer”.

I Was A King has a few PNW dates, which I’ve noted below, along with the California shows for my friends in LA and San Francisco:

June 10: The Echo in Los Angeles, CA
June 11: Rickshaw Stop in San Francisco, CA
June 13: Doug Fir in Portland, OR
June 14: Neumo’s in Seattle, WA

All of these dates will include phenomenal performances by Constantines and Crystal Antlers.
