The Besties: What Would Tim Armstrong Do? [pReview]

The Besties

I’ll probably have a nice little package in the mail when I get home tomorrow (actually today, if you’re reading this the day it was published) with these guys in it, but I cannot wait to get this song out there. It’s “What Would Tim Armstrong Do?” by The Besties. And while I do not know a Tim Armstrong, I do know that this song is damn catchy.

It’s packed with a massive pop sound that’s borderline twee. It’s a perfect jump-around-on-the-bed type of song. It’s got playful organ hooks and lovable female vocals. It’s got a chorus to die for. Oh, and in lieu of all it’s pop glory, it’s full of the good side of punk – think a female version of Tullycraft!

“What Would Time Armstrong Do? can be found on The Besties’ recent release Home Free, out now on Hugpatch Records.

Considering they’ve got some punk influences I wonder if it’s Tim Armstrong who was in Operation Ivy, Rancid, and the Transplants.

Great post. FYI – the only Tim Armstrong I know is the guy from Operation Ivy, Rancid, Transplants and is an absolute legend!

I think you both nailed it. Looks like I have some catching up to do… punk is one of those genres of which I don’t have extensive knowledge.
