No Go Know: Sleeping Is Winning [Album Review]

No Go Know

Within the Portland scene, there are many bands like No Go Know. And Sleeping Is Winning could sound as familiar as a collection of your favorite Dandy Warhol tracks. But, there is a darkness that resides within their entire vibe that distinguishes them as a strong competitor in the underworld of the City of Roses.

While a track such as “Sunday Morning” may send you into a progressive psychological frenzy, “The Garden (Cause It Will)”, with it’s mild mannered classic rock aura, may remind you of your favorite night tucked away in your favorite nook or dive bar. Whatever disgruntled behavior that may arise, No Go Know should not be held responsible. “We Are All Things On Fire” may come off as a bit slowly paced, but it still brings a profusion of a metaphor to order with a fierce, submissive sense of knowledge of pleasure and sacrifice.

For a five track EP, Sleeping Is Winning is loaded with a massive amount of ambiance. Even if the track list doesn’t meet your every demand when it comes to commonplace indie rock, this band if indie-gypsy rockers’ manic acuity should establish them as one of Portland’s bellwether voices.
