![]() Loxsly’s latest EP is titled Flashlights and mixes atmospheric guitars with airy pop vocals. The group’s sound is unique: despite more drone-ridden guitars, the percussion is quite poppy. The vocals are pleasant and melodically crafted. The production elements blended in add to the group’s forward-thinking pop sound. Opening track “Lamprey Eels” has a driving percussion that, draped with the space-y guitars, is impossible to miss, while percussion is limited to minimal mixed down toms and cymbal hits in “Chopper”. Here, the guitars have a heftier, albeit still somewhat drone-esque, strum. “Speckled Eggs” is undoubtedly the most poppy song on the EP and the vocalist comes off like an early Britt Daniels; the band even sounds like early Spoon here. “Virgin Isles” concludes the four-song EP in a similar vein. While Flashlights isn’t out until early August, there’s still plenty to look forward to. Loxsly is currently working on their third full-length, as well as a music video. But, in the meantime, keep an eye out for Flashlights as it’s a viable time-filler until their next album hits. EXPERIENCE BAND LINKS |
